After Surgery

Please note the following, unless your doctor has stated anything different after the operation. The post-operative conditions may vary from person to person, also may differ from previous operations in the same person. If there is abnormal bleeding, pain or a different situation that annoys you after the operation, please ask your doctor for an appointment.

Normal Situations After Operation In 24 Hours
- Bleeding in the form of leakage
- Pain
- Swelling and bruising in the face area after certain operations (may increase up to day 3. The degree of swelling and bruising may vary depending on the operation.)
- Paresthesia in the lips and tongue area after certain operations (in some cases paresthesia may be more than 1.5 years).
- Nasal bleeding after certain operations (especially after certain operations in the upper jaw. If your doctor did not mention such a possibility after the operation, you should always consult your doctor when you encounter such a situation.)
Considered After Operation
1) Bite the gauze sponge for 30 minutes.
2) Do not eat for 2-3 hours after operation.
3) Do not rinse your mouth for 24 hours.
4) A light and cool diet is advisable during the first 24 hours. Avoid hot liquids.
5) Use an ice bag or towel continuously for the first 24 hours to reduce any swelling. Swelling may occur after the tooth has been remove, but is no cause for alarm.
6) No smoking for at least 3 days. Smoking can result in a painful dry socket which delays healing.
7) Avoid drinking through a straw. The pressure created by using a straw may dislodge the blood clot and may cause more bleeding.
8) Be sure to brush your teeth after eating. Unless your doctor indicates opposite, brush the operation site with a soft brush from the tooth's root surface to the chewing surface.
9) Take care not to accumulate food residue on the wound site.
10) Do not lie on the operation side as much as possible on the evening of operation for less swelling.
11) Make sure to take your sutures after 1 week.
Drug Usage After Operation
!!!!IMPORTANT NOTE: Antibiotics don't need to be prescribed after each operation. Please do not ask your doctor to write antibiotics after each procedure. Your doctor has to prescribe antibiotics when an infection develops in the operation area later, but this situation does not mean that you need to use antibiotics after each procedure. Please do not start using antibiotics without your doctor recommendation!!!!
1) Unless your doctor advices opposite, finish your antibiotics.
2) Start using the mouth rinse prescribed for you after 24 hours and finish the box. Do not start 2nd box of prescribed mouth rinse unless your doctor advices opposite.
3) After the operation, take 1 prescribed painkillers unless your doctor advices opposite, . If pain persists in the following period, continue to use the painkiller as described in the instructions for usage of the drug. DO NOT overdose!!!!
4) If you experience nausea, dizziness, itching and difficulty breathing depending on the medication you are using, stop taking the medication and please contact your doctor as soon as possible.
In Case Of Severe Pain After Surgery
Patients may experience severe pain as a result of poor recovery. In such a case, the wound care should be necessary or the condition of the adjacent teeth should be evaluated. In that case, APPLY TO YOUR DOCTOR (!). Wound care may be enough 1 times or it may be necessary several times.
